Recently, many companies have committed illegal and unethical actions in the business side. As a result, these companies try to use illegal and unethical actions for purpose of maximizing their profits only.  According to the Management Leading and Collaborating, Business ethic: “comprise the moral principles and standards that guide behavior in the world of business” (164).

First unethical business action is bribery and crook, and both these action are not considered unethical only but illegal based on international law and the USA law.  However, many companies decide to take these actions for the purpose of increasing their net income. For example, Halliburton Company was taking these actions.  The article “What We Know a Scandal-Hit Firm Fights”, mentions unethical actions has done by Halliburton company, “There was a bribery scandal in Kuwait, and a flap over the price of petrol imported into Iraq from Kuwait. Then it surfaced that the firm may have charged American taxpayers for millions of meals that were never actually served to soldiers in the Middle East” (The Economist).

The second unethical action is slave workers. slave workers could be considered as an illegal in some countries. On other hand, slave workers could be considered as legal action in some Non-industrialized countries. To be specific, a big companies use their workers as a slave, and they will put in unsafe conditions. Also, they force the workers to work for long hours and they pay for them low wages. Therefore, the company pays low wages, so they can reduce the cost of indirect labors and maximize their profits. According to the  article , “Putting a Human Cost On The Ipad”, “ Apple company , which reported $13 billion in profits yesterday, has been plagued by reports of long hours, unsafe working conditions, and physical punishment of employees in factories that make parts for its popular devices” (Musil , CBSNEWS).

The third unethical action is waste dumping, and polluting the environment. Waste dumping  could lead to death of residents of a specific area. According to the article ,  “How UK oil company Trafigura tried to cover up African pollution disaster” , “The Guardian can reveal evidence today of a massive cover-up by the British oil trader Trafigura, in one of the worst pollution disasters in recent history. (Leigh).  Trafigura oil company would not even to compensate money for the people who died from the waste dumpster.  After three years , Trafigura announced that they are going to compensate money for the people who have suffered health problems from the waste dumpster.

Finally, many companies use illegal and unethical actions for the profit purposes, but sometimes these companies do not face any punishment for wrongdoers because they have political powers.
